There’s always a fun and funky women’s fashion trend each and every summer, and this year it seems like the must have look is tribal trend. Bursting with energy and popping with colours, the tribal trend isn’t for the faint-hearted but if it’s done well you can really make a style statement this summer. The main thing with working the tribal trend is to make sure there’s a good balance between being too subtle and not going over board. Here are some top tips for finding that middle ground and getting the tribal trend down to a tee.
Bold patterns
The easiest way to pull off the tribal trend is to focus your outfit around a particular bold print with vibrant colours; something abstract, geometric or primitive works best, so steer clear of anything that’s understated or neat and tidy.
Animal prints
Be it zebra, leopard or tiger print, they’re all perfect for the tribal look that is key to working this latest trend. Stick to one animal print per outfit though, otherwise it’ll be far too over the top. If you want a subtle tribal look, wear a graphic print t-shirt with an animal motif, while snakeskin effect shoes and bags will add even more to this trend.
Tribal colours
Base your look around a neutral shade using earthy tones like terracotta, beige or ochre, but then add vibrant shades and bold prints to this to avoid looking drab using reds, oranges, yellows and bright blues. Try and bring together all these colours using a print.
Metallic finishes
Metallic shades are all the rage right now and they can easily be incorporated into the tribal trend using metallic shoes of gold, silver or pewter, as well as accessories and jewellery with stud detailing.
Once you’ve taken into consideration all these elements that make up a tribal look it’s important to remember not to incorporate them all into one outfit otherwise it’ll look over the top and won’t achieve the look you’re going for. If you go all-out in one area then tone down the rest with a plain neutral piece. It’s essential that you let key clothing styles, colours or prints stand out and use other elements of your outfit to complement this.
